I is for Intimacy (In to me see) We need to get to know ourself in order to know what we need. We need to have a relationship with our God and our sponsor, before we look to a relationship with another. That is why they say, "No relationships in your first year.'

J is for Jinx. Don't jinx yourself by saying, "I will never drink or pick up a drug again." We work this program one day at a time. Just for today, I choose not to use. Drugs take many forms, substitution doesn't work. We end up jinxing ourselves and end up with 2 or more addictions.

N is for New. Each day is a new beginning. I get a chance to work my program in today and gain a new perspective on my life. When I go to a meeting with the mind set of a newcomer, I am open to learning and see things in a new light.

Q is for Quest. I had a mixed view of who my God was to me, so I went on a spiritual quest. Everywhere I went, my God was there. God is as He reveals Himself to me in today.

S is for Stay

Stay away from that first drink. Take the 1st step daily.

Daily Reflections - Sept 24 reading:

VIGILANCE

We have seen the truth demonstrated again and again: "Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic." Commencing to drink after a period of sobriety, we are in a short time as bad as ever. If we are planning to stop drinking, there must be no reservation of any kind, nor any lurking notion that someday we will be immune to alcohol.
— ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 33

Today I am an alcoholic. Tomorrow will be no different. My alcoholism lives within me now and forever. I must never forget what I am. Alcohol will surely kill me if I fail to recognize and acknowledge my disease on a daily basis. I am not playing a game in which a loss is a temporary setback. I am dealing with my disease, for which there is no cure, only daily acceptance and vigilance.
