Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Today’s Scripture: II Thessalonians 2:2 (NLT): Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us.

There's something deep within us that loves to be first, to win, to be "in." We elbow up through degrees, titles, possessions, rights privileges, connections, seniority and the like. But once we reach our goals, then what? God doesn't separate us from those who are lower on the career ladder than we are. He tells us to pull them up with us. "Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God" (Leviticus 19:34). In a few words, God both levels and lifts us: "You were an alien, too" and "I am your Lord God."
