Feeling Less Than Spiritual

John 14:1-3 NIV: Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father´s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

No, you are not the only one who has faced it. You know-a time when you feel, shall we say, less than spiritual. Just as many others, I too can say, "Been there…lived through that." Sometimes, that´s all you feel you´ve accomplished. Living through it, that is. And barely even that, perhaps. Maybe you wonder how it is possible to get through the tough times and feel more like a victorious Christian, than a beaten believer. The first thing you must do is put your eyes on Jesus. The second thing is to keep them there. In our "less than spiritual" times, it is tempting to believe the voice that tells you, you have failed-and tells you, you will only fail again. But that is not the voice of Jesus; and it is only His voice to which you should be paying close attention. Don´t let your heart be troubled, believe in Jesus. He has wonderful things in store for you. If it were not so...He would have told you.

Told a sponsee one time, "So be angry at God, He has big shoulders." He is willing to forgive and willing to talk to you, even if you are a little ticked off at Him and asking, "Why?"

I was told it was okay to not pray, if it isn't from the heart, it won't go far any way. It is another of those times that I had to pray for the willingness to be willing.

Just because I pull on the blanket of denial, hide behind masks and glasses be they pink or black, it may be a mental block, but deep down, I know my God is there, just waiting for me to reach out to Him.

Spirituality for me is giving and forgiving, loving self and others, and looking at the person not the act. We are all in our own dis-ease, whatever that may be. Spirituality to me, means no longer acting out in that disease instead of applying and walking the program of recovery.
