Default A new beginning, a fresh start, the entrance of the New Year

Sisters in Christ Worldwide

A new beginning, a fresh start, the entrance of the New Year….what will 2014 bring? We may have expectations, hopes or even dreads of the upcoming months in our lives. But what does 2014 mean in our faith walk?

The future seems unknown, but in our faith, we can rest in knowing the Lord is with us. At the beginning, during the journey and in the end…He is standing beside us, holding our hands, and sometimes even carrying us. This knowledge is part of a strong faith. Even if you are the strongest believer, there are and will be times that you question His part. If you didn’t believe, you could not doubt.

Combining Christ with our everyday lives is such a gift, but one that sometimes requires some effort on our parts. Recently I have struggled with prayer. My mind was so full of worry that I could not focus on the Lord. A very wise friend told me that in times like these, God prays for us. He understands our human weaknesses and is there to help.

Psalms 46 God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation]; a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

What a wonderful feeling to know He is there, even when you are in that dark and sad place. He will lift you up.

As the New Year begins, I find myself going in a slightly different direction which unfortunately means not writing for the Good Morning devotional. I have enjoyed sharing my thoughts with you and have met some wonderful people in the process. I want to thank all of you who commented, contacted me or shared their thoughts. You are all so important in God’s world. I will hold all of you up in prayer as my journey continues.

God Bless you and Keep you.

Good Morning Lord, Our prayer this morning is simple in words, but endless in love. Please be with us as we journey and hold us up in those times of question and distress. I ask that in the New Year, you touch new lives and allow them to see your everlasting grace. Amen
