1 John 4:20 - 20 If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?

September 2

The earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy; Teach me Your statutes. Psalm 119:64

Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor 1 Thessalonians 4:4

Hebrews 11:3 - 3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.

Galatians 6:7-9 — Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. September 3

Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don't let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. Psalm 19:13

Isaiah 38:16 - 16 Lord, your discipline is good, for it leads to life and health. You restore my health and allow me to live!

Romans 10:14-15 — How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

We must take God's great message of salvation to others so they can respond to the Good News. How will your loved ones and neighbors hear it unless someone tells them? Is God calling you to take a part in making his message known in your community? Think of the one person who needs to hear the Good News, and think of something you can do to help him or her hear it. Then take that step as soon as possible.

I will praise you, O Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. - Isaiah 12:1

Thought: God's anger was turned away forever at the cross.

September 4

Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. 2 Timothy 1:13-14

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer... Psalm 19:14

These verses are a prayer of praise to God for the wisdom of his plan. Although God's method and means are beyond our comprehension, God himself is not arbitrary. He governs the universe and our lives in perfect wisdom, justice and love. In the final analysis, all of us are absolutely dependent on God. He is the source of all things, including ourselves. He is the power that sustains and rules the world that we live in. And God works out all things to bring glory to himself. The all-powerful God deserves our praise.

Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. - Matthew 28:20

September 5

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. Colossians 1:28

Hebrews 10:23 - 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

September 8

Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. Psalm 143:10

Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Psalm 100:2

Psalm 19:7 - 7 The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! - Psalm 133:1

September 9

that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; Titus 2:2

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Proverbs 30:5 - 5 Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you. - Isaiah 66:13

September 10

Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you. Isaiah 46:4

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?... Isaiah 43:19

1 John 4:16 - 16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

May the Lord make you increase. Psalm 115:14

September 11

I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. Lamentations 3:25

Psalm 9:10 - 10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.

My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. Psalm 119:50

September 12

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4

For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe even if someone told you about it. Habakkuk 1:5

Nahum 1:7 - 7 The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.

Thought: God's love is a safety net on life's slippery slope.

September 13

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 1 Peter 3:8

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 1 Peter 5:6

John 14:27 - 27 I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

September 14

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Philippians 2:1-2

But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. 1 Thessalonians 5:8

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17

September 16

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. James 3:13

Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. Colossians 1:10

Proverbs 9:11-12 - 11 Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. 12 If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.

2 Corinthians 4:6-7 — For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

Also in James 3: 17... But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle and easy to be entreated [reasonable], full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

(Jesus said), Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. - John 14:27

Jesus is the calm during the storm.

September 17

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. Ephesians 5:1

You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life... Deuteronomy 30:20

2 Corinthians 1:3 - 3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.

Psalm 119:165 — Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

September 18

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6

Colossians 3:2 - 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Deuteronomy 20:1 — When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.

He who guards his lips guards his life. - Proverbs 13:3

Thought: Let the words from your mouth speak God's love from your heart.

September 20

Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the Lord your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you— The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month. Joel 2:23

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23

James 1:5 - 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Psalm 116:1-2 — I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.

God is so responsive that you can always reach him. He bends down and listens to your voice. This writer's love for the Lord has grown because he has experienced answers to his prayers. If you are discouraged, remember that God is near, listening carefully to every prayer and answering each prayer in order to give you his best.

September 21

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14

A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones. Proverbs 14:30

Romans 12:1 - 1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Psalm 119:33 — Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end.

September 22

Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God. Romans 15:7

God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. 1 Thessalonians 4:7

Isaiah 63:9 - 9 In all their suffering he also suffered, and he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them through all the years.

Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline, and understanding. - Proverbs 23:23

Thought: Truth is precious. Treasure it!

September 23

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:3-4

Jesus replied, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty John 6:35

Psalm 69:16 - 16 Answer my prayers, O Lord, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me, for your mercy is so plentiful.
