THE Right Thing
"The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it." Norman Schwarzoff
Sometimes we waffle over what to doing a difficult situation simply because we're reluctant to do what we know we have to do. Maybe there's some sacrifice we don't really want to make. Maybe we're afraid we might alienate someone. Maybe we just don't want to put out the effort it's going to take. So we procrastinate---asking for advice, weighing alternatives, hoping we'll find some way out of the situation. This is usually a futile exercise; we still have to do the right thing. If I know what I have to do, I will do it rather than look for excuses not to. The satisfaction of knowing I've lived up to my own values will be worth any discomfort, I might experience.
