Default What's The Rush?

WHAT’S THE RUSH?

We get up late. We get stuck in traffic. We have to wait in line. It seems like when we are in the biggest hurry, we end up having to wait. It seems like when we are rushed, we skim over some of the things we need to do so we can get back on track. It seems like the days we are the busiest trying to get things done, we forget our priorities. But we can’t forget God. We can’t skip the step of talking with Him during the day. We can’t leave Him out of our lives when we are in a rush. He should be first in all we do. Then He will take care of the rest.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (KJV)

Dear Lord, help us not to be too rushed today that we forget about You. Help us to remember You first before we do anything else. Help us to go to You first before tackling anything. Help us to remember You when we are stuck in traffic, waiting in line and feeling rushed due to the things of the world. We know You have a plan for us today and help us to remember to be still and listen to Your gentle and guiding word so we can be obedient to You and help others in the midst of our busyness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God wants us to stop even at our busiest moments and remember what He has called us to do.

When we are too busy to remember God, we are focusing on the wrong things.

At our busiest moments, God wants us to remember His plan for us and take time to refocus on Him.

In our quiet time, we can hear God. We shouldn’t be too busy to stop and listen to what He wants us to do.

It is when we decide to return to and rest in God that we will find peace in the midst of the busyness of life.

Isaiah 30:15b “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.” (NLT)

Focus for today: Take time to check in with God regularly today so you are doing what He wants rather than being busy doing what you and everyone else wants.

What came to mind was ¨Was I am late, I am late, for a very important date...! I can not be late if I am living in today. Things happen for a reason, not always as we feel they should be. First things first is our recovery. Yes we need to meet our commitments, but if we cannot, then we need to get someone to substitute for us. I am not the important one, the message is. I do not have to be the one who carries it, especially if I can not carry a clear, clean message.

For so many years, I went through life with a false sense of responsibility. If I do not do it one way, I can do it another way, perhaps there is a purpose for me not being there, even though I will be enriched by it, my God often has other plans for me or He wants me to take care of myself.

When asked to do in today, I always say, ¨God Willing.¨ Maybe someone else needs to hear someone else’s truth.

There is no rush on the Steps, as long as you don’t stop doing them. People who relapse, are people who couldn’t take the time to do them or they got to 12, they thought they were done. We learn at different levels, and are not able to always able to deal with things right away. Two sisters who came into my group looked at Codependency at one year sober, I never got to address the topic until I was 5 years sober. That didn’t mean I didn’t qualify, it meant that I had more pressing issues to deal to stay clean and sober.
