Icon19 Detoxing off Narcotics

Hi there, I'm new

I'm so grateful that I have not abused substances for 4 days!! Although it has been a roller-coaster ride I still feel a huge sense of accomplishment and joy in my heart!!

Now... the work starts.

I just started moving around yesterday because I've been so sick but I think we're going to go to the pool/sauna tonight to deal with the pain. I've been advised to look up the Thomas detox recipe and get all my vitamins and nutrients in check.

I have barely been smoking cigs because of the detox so maybe this is a glimmer of hope that I can kick that habit too!!

Every detox has been different for me, but this one was by far the worst thing I have ever experienced in my life. God willing, it's enough to make me stay clean forever.

I posted my story in the newcomers forum here:

http://www.bluidkiti.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2866

I hope you read it and share your experience, strength and hope!!

Thank you for sharing. I can identify, I was living in the YWCA and closed the door on the world and detoxed and thought I was going to die for 5 days. The social worker there got me into treatment. My doctor sent me to Relapse Prevention, I didn't even know I had a problem or what it entailed, until I worked with the her. My doctor had been my supplier for years.

Congratulations on your 4 days. It is a simple program, go to meetings, get a home group (a place you feel comfortable and you can identify with the people in the group). Find a sponsor, doesn't always have to be someone from your group, but I found it helped, because I needed to keep contact with her daily.

There is a lot of recovery material here. It doesn't matter what the substance is, it is all applicable. The common denominator of all addictions are the 12 Steps and Traditions. I used alcohol and relationships, just as much as I did pills and food.

Hope you will continue to come and share your journey with us. We have a daily check in section. It has been a good connection for me.

The longer I stayed clean and sober, I was able to make healthy choices.

Hi, oxyfree. Thank you for your life-story. Stay strong, I know how you feeling, I know how painfull withdrawal could be, I understand you. You are not alone, just remeber it.
I hope you have more then 4 days of being clean. If clinics didn't help you, maybe you should change the treatment methods?

Stay clean and happy!

Hope you are still continuing on the good fight. Just for today, I choose not to use.

It is important to be strong for ourselves. We need to be willing to do for ourselves. How it works! Honesty, Open Mindedness, and Willingness.

Hugs, not drugs.

I agree with Jo.

Your life is yours. Only you can handle it. Only you can change everything. Only your decision has a value in your life. Fight for your life, change it for good and happiness.
Stay positive!
