Default A New Year

A New Year

Read Revelation 21:1–27

Another year is about to come to a close. Has it been a good year for you, or one you are glad to see end?

Sadly, we often wish our life away. Things will be better, we tell ourselves, when the children are in school, the mortgage on the house is paid in full, or the long-awaited promotion gets us off the financial edge. But children are a challenge no matter whether they are toddlers or young adults. Mortgage payments all too often are replaced by another debt, and promotions may result in longer hours that are not compensated by a raise in salary.

It is all too easy to face a new year with dread rather than hope, as problems for which we have no answers press in on us. But God has the answer.

God never promised that life on earth would be free of sorrow or hardship, pain or death. But He will create a new heaven and new earth where He will dwell among His people; He promises, “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain... I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:4,5).

Prayer Suggestion: Ask the Lord to show you someone you can encourage with His promises for today and tomorrow.

Quicklook:Revelation 21:1–5 God's Word For Today

Every year has been the best year of my life, I am still clean and sober. No matter what happens in my life, each day is a new beginning.

Now we are about to start a new year, one day at a time.
