Default True Patience

TRUE PATIENCE

The definition of patience can be confusing. Patience is not acting like we are calm when provoked. Patience is not appearing to be okay with the situation because we are not complaining. Patience is actually having a calm spirit when waiting for a long time or dealing with difficult people. Patience is more than just an appearance. It begins from within. When we pray for patience, things are not going to all of a sudden be great. Things are going to get tough so we can practice patience and know our peace comes only from the Holy Spirit living within us.

2 Corinthians 6:6 “We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us to stop pretending to be patient. Help us to truly know You and allow You to live in our hearts and minds so we can show true patience with others. It’s hard when we try to do it on our own because we are only patient on the surface. We want to dig deeper into Your word and allow You to work through us so our patience is real. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We can practice patience every day by showing kindness rather than rudeness.

We can practice patience every day by showing sincere love to others.

We can practice patience every day by showing understanding to others.

We can practice patience every day by spending quiet time with God before we begin our day.

We can practice patience every day by allowing the Holy Spirit to live in us.

1 John 2:27 “But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true.” (NLT)

Focus: True patience comes from knowing God and allowing His Holy Spirit to work through us.

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
