Default Hi, I'm Nancy and I'm an alcoholic.

I'm here, desperate to stop drinking, this will be my first sober day if I can make it. Due to.post gastric bypass, I am certainly risking my life daily with this. Just being honest here, at 57, I started drinking at 52, post gastric bypass. Well, here I am. Praying. Asking for prayer. And for my dear husband as well. I am powerless and my life has become unmanageable.

Welcome Nancy, you have taken the first Step. You recognize that your life is unmanageable and you are powerless over alcohol as well as hubby too. Keep praying, and take a look at the material on the site. If there is something special you need or want, please ask for it.

Each day is a new beginning, so have a good one. Put the focus on you, not your husband. You can't change him, but we can pray for him and put him into the Hands of HIS God.

I wish you well on your journey. Please keep coming so you don't have to come back. The Daily Readings are a big help to all, new and not so new.

It is suggested that we go to 90 meetings in 90 days to find a home group and a sponsor. A place you feel safe, and a woman who has what you want and walks her talk. Someone you can relate to. We need a sponsor to support us and then guide us through the Steps when we are ready.

Thank you for your kind and supportive response Jo, I am going to daily meetings. My husband is a non drinker and a very kind person to still be married to me. I got a sponsor, chose a 12 step workbook, just to help me make a deliberate path through. And I made a Dr appointment to.take a look at my physical state, labs and heart, as well as liver function. I am working through the woman's guide through the 12 steps, text and workbook, as companions to the big book and 12 and 12.

Sounds like you are on track. Hope you are willing to go to any length to maintain your sobriety. Without it, family and friends don't have you. I found I didn't have myself. Along the way, it seemed like I had given a piece of me every time I picked up.

I was very fragmented. It took time. I didn't get to where I was over night. The program isn't a quick fix. It work though if you work for it. One day at a time!

All the best to you on your journey.
