Topic of the week, words that begin with the letter "X"

X is for Xenophobia. It means hatred and fear of strangers and aliens. Maybe that is why alcoholic and addicts don't like themselves to much and have an issue with looking in the mirror. The person they were is no more and someone they don't know is looking back at them.

X is sfor X-ray. Don't just look at the outside, look at the inside. We heal from the inside out. Scars have deep roots and are rooted in many feelings and hurts that we need to heal.

We can do what I can't do alone. Getting out those old feelings and sharing them with others helps us to heal and we see ourselves reflected in others.

X is EXpectations. When I put too many eXpectations on someone who can't meet them, I am hurting them and me, setting up myself for disappointment, feelings of fear, of being less than, abandonment, and many other issues. I need to lower my eXpectation and raise my level of acceptance.

X is for "X marks the spot." This is where you are at in today. Don't limit yourself or your God as to how He/She/It can work in your life. It is the God of your understanding.

Don't let your God be an old tape, connect and build a new relationship, one that you can build on. For me, my God is all things. He is as He reveals Himself to me in today.

X is for EXtra. When I am coming up on an anniversary, I do eXtra meetings and try to make a point of visiting meetings that were instrumental in my growth in my early recovery. When I am hurting, I try to say eXtra prayers, knowing that I can't get through these challenges on my own. When I need an attitude adjustment, I do eXtra meetings until I can realign things and make things right with my God.
