There are many paradoxes in the program of recovery. First that we're driven to it, but don't want it. Then we're told we have to surrender to win, to give it away to keep it, there's so many the list goes on and on. Another thing that's interesting is the use of a higher power to do for us what we could never do. What's interesting about this is that not only does this work to stop our drinking, it also gives us the solution to our problem. The selfishness and fear that have been so well hidden in us and are at the root of our problem. Few of us know these to be the main part of our problem. All who have done this know this to be true because no longer we are driven by them. It is then that most report that we couldn't drink even if we wanted to.That the problem has been removed, and so it has. We recoil from drinking as if it was a hot flame is what was said by the early founders, the ones who first tried doing this, they were shocked because that's way more than they signed up for.
