Having an ego is not as bad as it can be made out to be, or like we are led to believe when we begin our recovery. It's natural for all of us to have an ego and we all do. What's not natural is how warped all our egos had gotten because of having this problem. This is where ego gets such a bad wrap from in recovery, but it's not the ego that's our problem, it's the over inflated opinion we all had of ourselves that we all had come up with in order to overcome the terrific beating we were taking from having this problem and not knowing we had it, or how we could live with having it. This was the best that we could think of, and it didn't work very well for any of us. We took this over inflated opinion of ourselves wherever we went it usually spelled trouble for all of us. Once we're in recovery we'll learn how we can become right sized again. This allows us all to gain a true perspective of who and what we are and when we do we're all able to have a healthy ego, one that we won't let overstep its bounds.
