Recovery comes to all of us as a gift, but few of us will think of it like that when we're new. Most of us tend to think it's more of a curse than a blessing. Recovery comes to us all only once. Sure we'll get as many chances that each of us may need in order for us to get it, but it's never the same as us getting it the first time. Why some of us get the opportunity for recovery and some of us don't is a great mystery to all of us. The worst thing that any of us could do now at this point when we're being given this gift is to turn our back on it, and we all somehow know this and can sense that it would be a mistake for us if we did. Yet many of us will make this mistake and turn our backs on recovery only to regret later on that we did, and wish we hadn't, if we're lucky enough to be able to do so. There's no need for any of us to do this. All we have to do is just step back , and ask ourselves why am I being given this chance at being in recovery when not everyone else is ? If we can't answer this for now, we're sure to find the answer to this in recovery, and part of the answer is that something wants us to be here in recovery. This much is pretty obvious to us, and the rest we'll come to know, but there is a reason for all of us being here, and we all owe it to ourselves to try to find out what that reason is. Why are we being given this chance ? When so many of us will never be given the same chance?
