Default Topic - words beginning with the letter "W"

W is for Will. Not self-will or the won'ts of rebellion, but the willingness to follow God's Will for our lives. Willing to go to any length to stay clean and sober. Sobriety means soundness of mind, and I can't obtain that if I stuff my mind with things that block me from communicating with my God. I need to be willing to open all channels, open my mind to new concepts and ideas, know that there are options, but going back out was never a choice for me. I often had to pray for the willingness to be willing.

W is for Worth. I am worthy of recovery. I am a Child of God. God doesn't make no junk! I am not my disease. I need to be willing to accept my disease, before I can change my life by working the Steps. Step One says I need to be honest. I also believe I need to surrender to the program and accept that there is a solution, if I am willing to work for it.

W is for Welcome. Welcome to the group, make yourself at home. Find yourself a home group, you can`t beat the face to face hugs and the welcoming and comforting feeling you get from meetings. Shop around, sign up where you feel the most welcomed.

W is for Work. The program works if you work for the program and your sobriety (soundness of mind).

Work the steps and apply what you have learned to your life.

W is for Willing. Make extra use of the 12 Steps by applying to all areas of your life, not just your addiction. Spend extra time with your Higher Power, He will be grateful and so will you. Be willing to find your God's Will for you.

They say all that we need is faith the size of a mustard seed, perhaps it would enrich things more if you put extra energy into your life and eat food for the body, mind, and spirit, that seed will grow.

Pray for the willingness to be willing for whatever is missing in your life.

W is for Who. You have to want to get clean and sober for you.

You need to find what is good for you. I went to meetings to heard others share, and through them, I found myself. It wasn't about who they where, but who I was or had been, and had lost along my journey to get to the doors of recovery.

We need to find own God, and build a relationship with the God of your understanding, who will lead, guide and direct you on your road to recovery.

W is for Why. Don't ask how it works or why it worked for other and doesn't seem to work for you. Why it doesn't work, generally means not willing to go to any length to quit using. They hang onto the old and justify there recovery because they are not using their drug of choice. It is called a little pot, pill, gambling, food, work addiction.

Why question it. It works if you work for it. Take that first step and see where it takes you.
