Know God More
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10 NIV A reader wrote recently that she wanted so much to know God. She desired to be like Christ. She also knew that in order for God to really do a work in her life, she would have to spend time with Him. She knew that her time with Him would have to be in an uninterupted, quiet, reflective setting. No, she didn't tell me all this, but I could sense it from the words she used. Do you share my friend's concern? Do you have a heart that desires God? There really is no magical formula. There is no set procedure to follow. God says we will find Him when we seek Him with all our heart. Getting alone with God; getting to know God is really just an act of our will. It is completely in line with the Father's will for us to know Him. He created us for a love relationship. His heart's greatest hope is that we will want to grow in relation to Him. The responsibility then is really on us. It is us who must be still. It is our hearts which must seek His heart. God is never far from those who will honestly and fully search for Him. In a day of mass activity, when we live by our calendars and we have to schedule even time with our family, it is sometimes difficult to find the "set-aside" time to be alone with God. But, in all of our lives, there will never be a more important, nor refreshing opportunity than a personal encounter with the Living Lord! It is with Him that the real peace and purpose of life is found. Be still before the Lord today!
