Default Topic of the week, words that begin with the letter "H"

H is for H.O.W. It means how the program works, "Honesty, Open Mindedness, and Willingness. I also thing that the spiritual principles for Step One is Honest, Surrender, and Acceptance.

Unless I can get honest with me, open my mind to other ideas and concepts other than my own (my best thinking got me to the doors of recovery), and willing to go to any length, not to have that first drink in today and willing to do what ever it takes to maintain my sobriety.

One alcoholic/addict talking and sharing with each other is how the program works for me.

H is for Happiness. If you aren`t enjoying recovery, what are you doing wrong. Happiness comes from with. True happiness can be fleeting and false if we look for it elsewhere.

H is for Honesty. If I can't be honest with ourselves, how can we be truly honest with others. We can live in a world of illusion and denial can keep us from the reality of where we truly are at in our life, whether we are in recovery or not.

Self-honesty includes cash register honesty, and when we speak our truth, we may not see things as other people see it. Our truth can be our own denial.

A Hug For You

I've got a hug
Meant just for You
Warm and cuddly
Maybe even two.

And with this card
You will hear me say
"I hope things are fine
And to have a great day!"

My hug sends love
And best wishes, too,
I'll always have more
Just waiting for You!

H is for Honesty. It still is the best policy. It is a principle that is need to work most of the Steps. You can't change what you are not aware of or willing to admit to.

H is for Hope. The 12 Promises of AA gave me hope. They are why I kept coming back. They said I would find a new freedom and a new happiness. They also said I would be amazed before I was half way through the Steps.

I found that they told the honest to God truth. The Steps lead me to that new freedom and happiness.

H is for HOW. How the program works. We get rigorously honest with outselves, we admit to our disease and ask for help. We open our mind to new things and allow others to be right. We need to be willing to go to any length to maintain our sobriety. That is why it is important to implement the 10th Step early into your recovery. It is a maintenance step and helps us in today.

H is for How to work the program. The program is not a quick fix, it i a process. It is looking at our character defect and getting honest about our shortcomings. Making amends unless it would hurt others or ourself. We don't make an amend just to make ourselves feel better.

How can we know what to change in our life if we don't take an inventory to see what is there?
