Joe is the pastor at His Place Church in Westminster, California. We've frequently been in touch with him since our first Nationwide Alcoholics Anonymous History Conference in Irvine, California, in May of 2009. And Joe's growth as both pastor and Christian recovery leader has been steady and productive as we've come to know him. First, we talked with him and his friends about his coming on board in our International Christian Recovery Coalition as a participant, which he did. Then, before the His Place fellowship in Huntington Beach merged with another larger facility, His place hosted two large gatherings where we addressed eager alcoholics and addicts, had a feed provided by David R.--a restaurateur in Costa Mesa, and heard Joe Speak. His work has been ably assisted by two other church members--Jonny Ray B. and Roger M. Next, we learned that His Place was having a hugely-successful A.A. meeting each Friday where the announcement was "We have two texts here. One is the Bible. The other is the Big Book." And unfettered and lively Christian recovery sharing takes place. Next, Joe told us that he wanted to support our work once his merger with the larger church was complete. And that happened. The new, much larger facility is still called His Place, but is located in Westminster, California. And Joe's church then hosted a large International Christian Recovery Coalition Conference there--providing an abundance of snacks, and eliciting some great sharing by Christian recovery leaders from all over the United States. Joe has had his personal experiences with drugs and alcohol, and I'll let him tell you as much as he wishes about that. Meanwhile, I look forward to his telling us right now how a little fellowship has grown to a major magnet that attracts other ministers and fellowships. It's all yours, Joe.
