Default Part of Getting Unstuck

Quote:

Part of Getting Unstuck

When our car gets stuck in the mud or snow, we immediately try to get out.
Sometimes we have to spin our wheels to get a rocking going.
Sometimes we have to try harder, then try again before we can get out.
Sometimes, spinning our wheels digs us in more deeply.
Then in frustration, we let go, and relax.
Soon we find ourselves doing what we need to get unstuck.
We ask for help or figure out another approach.

That's how it is on our journey.
We may find ourselves in a situation we don't know how to handle.
So we start spinning our wheels in frustration, confusion, or fear.
What we know is we want out.
Sometimes we need to get through that time
of spinning our wheels in order to get to the next place,
the place where we slow down and figure out what to do next.
Sometimes our frustration helps generate energy
to get momentum going in the general direction of solving the problem.
Putting forth that energy gets steam built up,
tells us and the universe we're ready to free ourselves.

If you find yourself spinning your wheels, be gentle with yourself.
Slow down, get a nice rocking motion going,
one that's rhythmic yet powerful enough for free you,
then put the car in gear, step on the gas, and gently drive out of the muck.

Sometimes we need to spin our wheels. It helps us get unstuck.

~Melody Beattie
Reminds me of when my first husband when we were dating prior to marriage, he used his mother's blanket to get unstuck. I didn't know it was a warning that he was a big user and it was a forecast of what was to come when we did hitch up.

It is also a reminder to me that I need to get out of my own way and allow the God of my understanding work through me instead of having to go around.

Spinning wheels is part of my disease not of my recovery. When I get all flustered, I create more chaos. When I remember, surrender, acceptance, letting go, and easy does it, then I can move forward again.

It is my honest opinion that it helps to get other people opinions and ideas which in turn, give me food for thought and hopefully an awareness and direction to help me grow. Just being hooked up on the almighty "I" is part of my disease. That is one of the reasons I like cut and paste. It isn't always about me. Words often tell a great story if I am willing to listen.

Sometimes the harder we try, the less we accomplish. When we let go, things just seem to happen.

Words come, thoughts come to mind, and we get vision and direction.

I love pictures, to me they speak volumes.
