Default It Not Us

Most of us are a pretty big mess when we get into recovery. Our last great hope is that somehow we can fix this on our own. While it may be normal for us to think like this, that's never going to happen. For us to be able to fix this mess would mean that none of us would have ever allowed ourselves to get into this mess to begin with. The fact that we're in this mess means we can't fix this on our own. The sooner we realize this the better off we're going to be. This is what it means to be powerless, that we can't fix this by ourselves, that we're powerless to do anything about it, and that we've always been this way right from the beginning, not being able to do anything about it. What turns out easier is to accept the help we get from being in recovery. Together in recovery we're able to do what none of us could do on our own. If we're not sure if this is going to work, come try recovery could be in for a big surprise.
