Power Within

When new to recovery most of us think that 12 steps of recovery are a bunch of weird things to do, which we never plan on doing. About the only thing I could understand about them was the numbers before each step. Most of us aren't able to see the power that's within them. It's only after doing them do we come to know this power. The steps were put together by people like us who were powerless, and to their amazement found by doing them they found the power not to drink, and even more to their amazement a way of life that far exceeded any expectations they ever had. It's interesting to note that none of the idea's or principles of these steps were original, they were all borrowed from somewhere, and even more interesting is that if followed they could do for us what we could never do for ourselves. Some say the only thing that could be considered original about the steps is their numbering. When all else has failed, start at step 1 and continue through to step 12 and keep doing them, and here's a secret about them: if having trouble doing a certain step always go back to the proceeding step, and if that happens to be step 1 go to the step before the steps, and become willing to go to any lengths.
