SUNNY SIDE UP

It’s true. Negative people bring us down. When others criticize, condemn or complain, we can do three things. First, we could stop them and change the subject. Second, we could encourage them and tell them good things about themselves, others or the situation. The third thing we could do is help them. Whatever is causing that negativity can be dealt with. When we have the self-control to be bright and positive when others are down and out, they will see Jesus in us and we can help their attitudes to change.

Hebrews 12:15 “Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us to have the self-control to stay positive in a negative situation. Help us to put our blinders on to the things of the world so no one and nothing gets us down. We know when we focus on You, we can allow You to so work through us so we can have self-control to stop the negativity, encourage others and help them. Thank You, Lord, for the power You give us through Your word and Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We can make the decision at the beginning of the day to remain positive with the help of Jesus – all day.

When we encounter someone who is bitter and rude, we can show them the love of God.

Rather than avoiding those who criticize, condemn and complain, we can live a godly example and help them to do the same.

Whatever is causing someone to be bitter can be stopped by the love of God. Let’s show that love to them today.

When we do all we can not to complain or argue, others will copy our behavior knowing we are against that type of communication.

Philippians 2:14-15a “Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you.” (NLT)

Focus: Look for opportunities to show love where there is hate, kindness where there is bitterness and gain self-control over bad emotions
