Default Shepherd's Pie

Basic Shepherd's Pie
2 1/2 pounds ground hamburger
1 14.5 oz can of peas
Mash Potatoes

Brown hamburger, drain of grease. Season hamburger with salt and pepper. Drain peas. In a 15 x 10 casserole dish put all browned hamburger on bottom layer, next layer peas and top layer mash potatoes. You want enough mash potatoes to cover the whole top. Bake on 350 for 30 minutes.

You can use less hamburger and adjust mash potatoes accordingly to make a smaller dish.

Tammy's Shepherd's Pie

2 1/2 lbs ground hamburger
1 small can cream of mushroom soup
1 TB chopped onion
1 TS garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 14.5 oz can peas drained
1 medium size carrot diced
mash potatoes

Brown hamburger, drain grease. Add can of cream of mushroom soup, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper to hamburger and simmer until onions are soft. Boil diced carrots in water until done then drain and add to peas that have been drained.

Then in a 15 x 10 casserole dish put hamburger mixture on bottom layer, covering the bottom of the dish, next layer is peas and carrots, then top layer is mash potatoes - enough to cover whole top of dish. Bake on 350 for 30 minutes and serve. Can make some gravy on the side to put on this but doesn't need it.

You can also add diced green pepper and/or diced red pepper to the hamburger.
